Glenn Hennig Glenn Hennig, Chairperson

Mr. Hennig of Hilliard has been appointed as Chairperson for the Northeast Alberta Community Board for PDD. Mr. Hennig is currently owner/operator of a farm. He brings his experiences from several volunteer roles and direct experience with the developmentally disabled. Mr. Hennig served a three year term as a board member for the Northeast Alberta Community Board immediately prior to his appointment as Chair. During his time with the Northeast Community Board he was an active member of the audit committee, the governance committee, and he assisted with regional conference planning and attended many provincial events on behalf of the Board. He has experience serving on local boards, including Lamco Gas Co-Op and Lakeland REA and has served as a 4H leader. Mr. Hennig received his education in Mundare and attended the University of Alberta, General B.A. program, for 3 years.

Dr. Douglas Fleming Dr. Douglas Fleming, Vice-Chairperson

Dr. Douglas Fleming of Westlock holds a doctorate in Education from the University of Alberta and has 22 years of school system experience, including Associate Superintendent with the Rocky View School Division and Associate Superintendent with the Pembina Hills Regional Division. Dr. Fleming served as the Chairman for the Town of Westlock’s Development Appeal Board, the Westlock Local Alberta Teacher’s Association, the Learning Disabilities Association Westlock Chapter and previously with the PDD Northeast Alberta Community Board prior to moving to Calgary. With a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing persons with developmental disabilities and their families, Dr Fleming looks forward to continuing to improve the delivery of services to persons with developmental disabilities.

Robert P. R. Annett Robert P. R. Annett 

Robert Annett of Plamondon is an experienced therapist and youth worker. As a psychologist with the Aspen Regional Health Authority in Lac La Biche, Robert has honed his skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.

Denis Duchesneau Denis Duchesneau

Denis Duchesneau of St Paul brings his vast financial, board and volunteer experience to the PDD Northeast Alberta Community Board. Mr. Duchesneau is a parent of a “Special Needs” child, has served the community in many capacities including, Chairperson of the St. Paul Community Council for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, a School Trustee, Director of the Native Friendship Centre and Alderman. In addition to his community involvement, Denis has direct experience with persons with developmental disabilities.

Maureen Kubinec Maureen Kubinec

Maureen Kubinec and her family operate a farm in the Westlock area, where she has served on numerous community and church boards. She recently completed her second term as president of the Alberta School Boards Association and was a school trustee for 18 years.

Treena Lane Treena Lane

Treena Lane of Cold Lake brings an action-oriented, inclusive approach to the board. Her experience working with people with disabilities in home care, and hospital and school settings, provides valuable insight on many issues.

Kathryn Kozak Wiebe Kathryn Kozak Wiebe

Kathryn Wiebe of Bonnyville is a former municipal councillor and mayor of Bonnyville and has strong mediation skills. She is currently a member of the Frog Lake First Nations Peacemaker’s Council.

Sherry Young Sherry Young

Sherry Young of Elk Point is a business owner and tireless volunteer. Sherry brings to the Board a broad range of business experience, her knowledge as a parent of a child with a developmental disability, and board experiences as well as work experience in the education sector. For 2006 Sherry was the Co-chair of the Northeast region Persons with Developmental Disabilities Conference Planning Committee and is the current Chair of the St. Paul Community Council. In addition to her volunteer and work experience, Sherry has direct experience with a child with developmental disabilities. Sherry brings a commitment to the Board, its functions, and persons with developmental disabilities.

Dale Drummond Dale Drummond, CEO

Dale was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan and received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982 and has recently completed his Masters of Arts from Athabasca University in Community Studies, and Leadership. Dale has been a resident of the Northeast region of Alberta since 1982 and during his time he has extensive experience planning and developing a broad range of community programs.

Dale’s personal belief is that community organizations and individuals have the ability to identify their own needs and make critical decisions regarding their own leadership, resource allocation and priorities. Every community group and individual has capacity that must be drawn on in order to have success. It is through this growth and relationship development that brings success to individuals and communities.

Memorial Recognition

The Members of the Northeast Community Board respectfully dedicate their web site to the memory of Mary Polzin (Lac La Biche). Mary was a founding member of the Board who provided energy and commitment to the Northeast web site.
