Every two years the PDD Community Boards conduct a survey of families and guardians to find out how satisfied they are with the PDD-funded services available to their family member, or the person they represent.
In 2008, 2,573 families/guardians completed the survey, for a response rate of 35%. Here's how they answered three key questions that measure overall satisfaction with PDD-funded services:
- 81% agreed that "Services meet the person's needs."
- 89% agreed that "Overall, I am satisfied that the services provided enhance the person's quality of life."
- 85% agreed that "Overall, I am satisfied that the person's services help him/her to be a part of the community as much as he/she wants to be."
The 2010 Family/Guardian Satisfaction Survey should reach your mail box in September. Please take some time to answer the survey and share your views. Your responses help us to improve services and supports for adults with developmental disabilities.
For families and guardians who do not receive the survey, or have questions, please contact Sharon Salomon at 780-645-6416 (this call is toll-free in Alberta by first dialing 310-0000) or sharon.salomon@gov.ab.ca.
KPMG has started the Administrative Review of the PDD Program. As part of the process, surveys have been sent out to service providers, family managed administrators and regional Community Boards and staff. The survey close date has been extended to August 4th. If you received a survey and have not yet responded, there is still time to provide your response.
Focus sessions will also be conducted across the province during July and August. A selection of families, guardians and individuals will be invited to attend these sessions. Those selected to participate will be contacted over the coming weeks.
If you are not selected to participate but wish to share your thoughts about how to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in the administration of the PDD program, KPMG would like to hear from you.
Remember that KPMG's review is focused on how the program is administered, and not on the supports and services individuals receive.
Please send any comments or questions to pddreview@kpmg.ca
KPMG looks forward to your participation in the process.
