Service Summary:
The St. Paul Abilities Network (SPAN) founded in 1964: by parents who sought special education and supports for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The agency now delivers:

  • Developmental early intervention and assessment for infants and toddlers
  • Outreack and in home support to families and children with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
  • Twenty-four hour residential supports for children with significant/multiple disabilities and challenging behaviors
  • Twenty-four hour respite for families with children with disabilities
  • Formal partnerships with other service providers in our community to ensure a holistic approach to service needs
  • Integrated supports which include family support meetings, resource library access, peer supports and case management
  • Twenty-four hour residential/day program supports for adults including seniors
  • Individual behavioral support for adults
  • Outreach for semi-independent adults
  • A continuum of vocational supports from social isolation prevention, pre-vocation/vocational job training to job placement services
  • Recreation and leisure planning including individual and group activities
  • Holiday/vacation planning for individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Accessible transportation for the community of St. Paul and surrounding areas
  • Education and training for people working to support community living alternatives
  • Twenty-four hour support for adults with mental illness
